Art Ross Trophy - Martin St. Louis
Lester B. Pearson award - Martin St. Louis
Jack Adams Award - John Tortorella
Lady Byng Award - Brad Richards
Hart Memorial Trophy - Martin St. Louis

Marty deserves his awards -- including the Selke which he wasn't even nominated for (but with a high plus in teh +/- and a league leading total of Short Handed goals, can you deny he wasn't a force on defense?)

Meanwhile -- Bradmaster taking home the Lady Byng is no surprise to me... Though I bet he wishes he didn't get it.

Tortorella winning the Jack Adams is the biggest surprise of the them all. Record is one thing but challenges faced by the coach is another. Torts had to bring the guys together and that's it. His competition -- Darryl Sutter -- had to change the players in his system time and again because of injuries. On top of that he had general manager duties to further cloud his palette. Torts had Jay Feaster doing the GM stuff.

Record be damned, Sutter deserved the Adams.

Gotta somewhat disagree with you on this one. Granted, Sutter did a phenomenal job and if the trophy was awarded (as it should be) for the best coaching job FOR THE YEAR, then he should have received it. But this year it was instead awarded to the best coach FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. The voters for the Adams did the exact same thing the referees do when they realize they have screwed up – they even it out. Torts should have won the damn thing last year, since he ONLY took the worst team in the whole league the previous season into the playoffs, where they were eventually defeated by the Champions in the second round. And so I think that as we got closer to the end of this year (and the December Debacle finally ended), that the voters realized what a fabulous job Torts was doing. And as for Sutter being GM in addition to Head Coach…. not a factor. The Adams is given to the Coach, not the guy who did the most jobs for the team. If that was the case, or if there are other contributing factors in the decision process, then they should make up another award to give out to the guy who can GM-and-coach-and-mop-the-floor-and-paint-his-house-and-overcome-the-tragic-death-of-his-kid’s-hamster-from-a-horrible-Zamboni(Ice Resurfacing Machine)-accident. Sutter was great, Torts was better. Even Hitchcock had good things to say about Torts, although I think they are friends who secretly hang out in the off-season in Argentina, so nobody recognizes them.

Went to the parade and the presentation after….this is STILL so damn surreal….

Congrats Tampa Bay on your Stanley Cup. I now have to say that now Bill Davidson has won his Stanley Cup, I hope he can now win a NBA Title with the Pistons. GO Pistons!

That was the first time I’d watched that awards show. It was great fun. Just regular guys, you know?
