Want a great example why America -- and the south -- are poo-pooed by Hockey Fans in general?

Look no further than the St. Petersburg Times and there weekly face-off argument.

Arguing what we should do with the NHL - one guy doesn't care and the other wants an ESPNHL type league... Which in itseslf is a joke but it's more positive than the vastly negative "Pro" argument by Mr. Cotey.

Tooting my own horn, I just sent this to the Times:

Next time the St. Petersburg Times decides to publish a “Face Off” article pinning two sports writers arguing over one aspect of sports or another, I have a few suggestions.

First suggestion is that you actually have informed writers participate. No offense intended to Brant James and John C. Cotey but Sunday (Jan 16th) featured what had to be the worst sports debate I have ever seen.

Second suggesiton is that when you have the writers do a pro and con, it should come off as Pro and Con and not “I-Don’t-Care” and Con….

If Tom Jones and Damian Cristordero had debated what to do with the NHL, it would have been quite an article. Having two non-hockey writers discussing what to do with the NHL (and the Lightning) was a joke and an insult to Lightning fans and hockey in general.
