Do svidanja Nikita?

It would seem that former first round draft pick Nikita Alexeev is mdone trying to break into the American game.

Nikita has signed a contract with Avangard Omsk.

The contract’s details are unclear in regards to his ability to return to the NHL, which remains a possibility since the Tampa Bay Lightning extended him a qualifying offer.

It's also unclear where the hell Alexeev would play with the Lightning. He has the tools to be a winger much like Fredrik Modin but he lacks the physical presence and intimidation factor -- oh, and the scoring touch. We can't forget that.

If Alexeev is to play in Russia, one would think that the Lightning will part ways with him after the 2005-06 season. Alexeev has been an incredible disappointment, never realizing his potential.
