Opening Night
2-0 hole already and here I am shouting "Shoot" over and over again...
Is this what theyve sunk to? Is this what I've sunk to?

Howdy, John! The Skypoint cam is down, skyscrapercity.com is down, so here I am. :D
Denis looks good. Good pressure in their end currently. I’m not unhappy with things so far, except for the score, of course.

I like that we’re not passing the puck quite so much, but then again I’m not convinced the D is in sync yet. Hope Denis can square his shoulders now. Can’t believe Alexeev’s hooking prompted the first goal.

Yeah, Hinch, SSC being down a lot lately has gotten to me.
YESTERDAY’s Skypoint images are now showing up properly, weird.
Marsha — they still seem to be passing a lot. I really want them to try crashing the net or putting up more shots. Affy is driving me nuts passing and passing… He has got to shoot — he’s featured on a top line now. It’s a necessity.

and by the way gang — I will look into employing Ajax comments in the near future so comments show up isntantly without refreshes.

John—I said not quite so much, as I’m not counting 5-6 passes every time down the ice. But of course you’re right about the lack of shooting.
Certainly we’re not storming the net like those passionate Sabres did (in spurts, anyway) last night against the Canes. Wish Richards’ shot hadn’t been deflected. Agreed about Affy. Well, might need more beer to get thru Period 2. And am hoping to see a better first period in person Sat nite.

Denis seems unchallenged. The threats come on the PP. I like that

does the Google Ad on the right side bar show up for you guys?
by John F. on Oct 5, 2006 8:44 PM EDT reply actions
I see two Google ad bars, one above the other. Different ads, tho. They’re slightly offset from each other, if that makes any difference.

Thanks hinch. As for Ajax comments — not yet. :(

JF: Check your email for a screenshot of the Google ads. Mac OS X 10.4.x running Safari.

JF: Kickin’ it, mang. Hating that the Caps and Bolts are losing (at this time).

I liked seeing Alexeev in on that. One of the new wings has got to be in on the scoring in one way or another.

Apropos of nothing, Brendan Shannahan just scored his 600th goal (2nd of the night) in the Rangers v. Caps game. That makes it 4-1 Rangers, and I’m back to the Bolts’ game full time at this point.

man this broadcast is TERRIBLE. The game itself is not much better — extremely ugly and boring. THe Thrashers can’t get anything started unless it’s on the Power Play and the Lightning can’t get anything started. It’s their 3rd line that’s playing like a 1st line.

THe Thrash are starting their late-game push again. I should have seen this coming — playing just well enough not to be shelacked until the end.
The Lightning can’t get complacent here and need to score.

I like the time the Bolts are spending in the Atlanta zone. Hopefully, it’ll pay off. Nice play by Ranger just now, too.

Man. Overtime. Should be 4-2 Lightning. Well, if one of the aims of this game was to see how Denis looks in a game situation, I’m still waiting.
One point (at least) after being down 2-0 doesn’t suck.

the only thing that gets me is if we hadn’t given up the early PP stuff we would have won this as a shutout. Denis has had bad luck in the PP during the pre-season

Denis is going to have to prove his mettle now… if the last 18.9 seconds don’t pan out.

The most exciting play in hockey…
will not be seen tonight. We get to see a shootout instead.

I’m pretty pleased with Denis so far. A lot to prove still but he is a very focused individual, very basic style not too fancy but to the point and I like it. I also have to say that I liked when he kicked the puck away last night after the second shooter. Just a nice touch, as if he was saying “Whose next?”.
