Back between the pipes
The St. Pete Times reported this morning that Marc Denis will be starting in goal tonight versus Les Habitants de Montreal. It will be Marc's first start in several games. Poor play before his benching and strong play by rookie Johan Holmqvist had both done their part to vanquish Denis to the bench.

back to the bench (powder filled sock to the head).

glad you got rid of that psychedelic verifying thing.

Do you think Torts figured out who his real #1 goalie is last night? Or..does he need that “powder filled sock to his head” to help him wake up and see the light?

Remember it’s Denis with the 3 year contract…
Johan, is the #1 starter by default right now. The team play in front of him has been better too. I just hope this doesn’t come down to a “goalie of default” controversy like last year where it was the lesser of two evils on some nights.

I hope Denis doesn’t get too many splinters riding the pine the next 3 years.
Based on tonights play I think the 2 goals Johan let in were typical rookie errors. Otherwise he was solid. Having an amazing win like he did tonight only shows he does know what he is doing out there. It might have been a bit unorthodox at times, but it worked.
But goaltending is a strange business. You could be the hero for the team and riding high then all of a sudden your luck cools down and you become team chump just as quickly as when you became their hero.
I would just be happy with 2 solid goalies who could switch out at a moments notice. Having a definite #1 really shouldn’t be a team priority. Continuing to mesh as a team should be the #1 priority.

I was mighty impressed by Holmer’s performance in the extended shootout last nite against NYI. Good for him. I like Denis also, but have been concerned from the git-go that the organization is putting too much pressure on the guy. The IMAX picture of him outside the Forum, the major publicity they gave him in the preseason. Hope Torts & company don’t play head trips on the guy. We’re lucky to have both goalies, and Denis’ most recent loss is mostly due to lack of offense and defensive breakdowns IMO.

Looks like Holmqvist is getting the nod again tonight.
