Is this the Lightning's new Uni???

I THINK THE NEW UNIFORMS ARE JUST OKAY. NOT WHAT I WAS REALLY HOPING FOR. I’LL ALWAYS CHARISH THE CURRENT AS THE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE LEAGUE.

I still worry about the new uniforms…maybe its just one of those traditionalist things….but what is wrong with what we got now.

New unis are inevitable. It’s basic franchise sports marketing 101.
Whatever they do, I just hope we get those lace-up front collars.

Wow… those are actually pretty hideous.

The swooshy things at the bottom (where the stripes would normally be) remind me of a “rough sea” and, IMHO, would only look somewhat acceptable on the ’Canes jerseys.

Plus, the blue is all wrong.

I agree with tiny that new unis are inevitable… but I wouldn’t take a bet saying this rendering is even close to what’ll come through. Looks like a best-guess scenario from someone with a smidgen of design experience.

I’m watching the All Stars game and the uniforms aren’t terrible. The stars down the side are distracting, but that’s just design. I want to see what they look like with the team colors and logos. But these are not the horrible uniforms I kept hearing about.

I think the Bolt shows up better on black than on silver, which IMHO has a slight disco-era feel. I have gotten some grief about the sparkly silver circle when I wear my jersey. The new unis have that Japanimation “super hero” look. Though oddish they don’t distract as much as the Buffalo banana slugs.

Those renderings were done by fans with no idea of what the NHL rules will be, as evidenced by the fact that there are several third jersey designs despite the fact that they will not be allowed next year.

the Lightning concept is pretty hideous too. There are a lot of things that can be done with a lightning bolt. I would suggest that if changes are necessary in Tampa, go big or leave it alone.

this thread is a little old, but…

My father was at a chamber of commerce meeting a few weeks ago, and someone from the Tampa Bay Lightning told him that there were introducing new colors to the Uni’s. He was told to look for jerseys with a lot of red color in them…
I guess we’ll see!
