Blackout

I did this last season and of course the media didn't listen, nor did the team... I'm hoping the local blogosphere can help carry this into the mainstream but...

"When does Lightning show up best? When it's dark."

Ladies and gentlemen, we ought to blackout the St. Petersburg Times Forum on Monday (and Wendesday, and whenever else necessary). It is a copycat tradition to have everyone in the building wearing one type color or another... but it's not as tired and cliché as the "white out".

Simply show up at the arena wearing dark colors -- black, dark blues, etc. Heck, it's the color of the uniform the home team is wearing, lest we forget ;)

Good way for the goalie to lose the sight of the puck. Unless you can get half of the arena at a time to change shirts. Let’s just play hockey. Better team wins a seven game series. GO BOLTS!!!

Hmmm, I’m hoping the Tampa boo-birds will be silent tomorrow nite. Didja hear Richie on Sun Sports saying that turning the Devils’ fans against them distracted them? So let’s not let the Devils do so unto us . . .

If dark colors being worn in the stands above the actual playing surface will result in lost pucks by the goalies — WHY hasn’t the NHL banned dark material at NHL games by now?

This isn’t baseball. THe ice surface is below the majority of the seating. It’s not like goalies are fielding popup fly balls.

BaseBall just banned steroids(and has not banned dark material, but will make a club have clear batters eye. The NHL just put in a salary cap. So that proves what? I’m sure it is not a major issue. But, have you ever seen a “blackout” or any other dark color backdrop. I haven’t, so must be a reason.
