Lightning Recall Admirals Leading Scorer Paul Szczechura
TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled center Paul Szczechura from the Admirals, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today.
Szczechura, 5-foot-10, 184 pounds, has played in all 14 games with the Admirals this season. He leads the team in points with 14 and assists with eight while also ranking third on the team in goals with six. Szczechura also has a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal and an even rating.
A native of Brantford, Ontario, Szczechura made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, playing in 31 games and recording four goals with nine points. He ranked second among Tampa Bay rookies in goals, assists and points. He also played in 33 games with Norfolk in 2008-09, recording 13 goals and 29 points.
Szczechura has played in 114 career AHL games with Norfolk and Iowa. He has amassed 38 goals and 81 points.
Originally undrafted, the Lightning signed Szczechura as a free agent on April 24, 2008.
