Where are you watching tonight, darling?

What is it with people not liking Getzlaf?

The one time I saw a hockey game live was Sharks vs Ducks. There was this very enthuasic woman sitting right behind me who kept screaming howm much she hated Getzlaf every time he skated past. (rather entertaining).

by Sidicus on Nov 19, 2009 10:24 PM EST up reply actions

He’s got a bit of a rap as an asshole out west here. We see him a lot. Actually, the Ducks are a pretty reviled team.

ryanclassic.net

by Ryan Classic on Nov 19, 2009 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

Fair enough, dont know enough to pass comment.

So far the lightning stats show they are outshooting the Ducks. Is this being reflected in the way the game is going?

by Sidicus on Nov 19, 2009 10:32 PM EST up reply actions

To me it seems like Anaheim’s had the better chances overall, but Tampa’s pretty persistent in the Ducks end. The shots are just poorer quality.

We’re busy talking about Rick Tocchet here on the couch. It’s also REALLY nice to finally see a Tampa game in HD. We get them on TSN occasionally (i.e. when they play Ottawa), but never an American broadcast.

And 2-0

What’s this newfangled thing called a penalty kill? I’ve heard about those.

not a good 1st

we look sluggish. we got a few chances but anaheim dictated the play.

by Sons of Thor on Nov 19, 2009 10:43 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, unfortunately sounds like Hiller is doing what he does best.

At least we outshot the Ducks for a change. Now we just need to find the back of the net at least 3 times in the next 2 periods.

by Sidicus on Nov 19, 2009 10:47 PM EST up reply actions

Hiller’s mostly just stood there. The best chance was Malone missing the rebound that Lecavalier gave him on the 2-on-1. Sidebar: Anaheim cameras pointed at the ice are a little overly blue.

by Ryan Classic on Nov 19, 2009 10:49 PM EST up reply actions

Cameras just caught 3 Leafs jerseys on the concourse. What the hell? Hey Anaheim, what gives?

ryanclassic.net

by Ryan Classic on Nov 19, 2009 10:50 PM EST reply actions

Its beer o’clock now so will be going, but thank you for the commentary and hopefully there will be an amazing come-back for the rest of the game (though checking the score, it doesn’t look like it will.)

by Sidicus on Nov 19, 2009 11:10 PM EST reply actions

the amazing comeback has begun

after ryan scored anaheim’s 3rd pp goal to make it 3-0, halpern and stamkos have suddenly made this interesting.

stamkos’ goal was especially awesome. check out a replay. well worth the watch.

And in case you didn’t know, they would like to remind you: Steven Stamkos is 19.

Just in case you missed that. He’s 19.

On TV the Ducks announcers said it was a great penalty because Halpern was going to get into the zone unimpeded.

They missed that the penalty was called at 19:59. Well done. Hey, at least it’s in HD (do you hear me, SUN? H.D. HD.)

sounds like the refs are aware that this game won’t be watched by many folks back here in the REAL bay area :-)

by tankerkevo on Nov 19, 2009 11:43 PM EST reply actions

Don’t knock the Bay Area. For one, that’s way north of Anaheim. For two, hey, I’m watching! Course, I’m one of the trio of folks in Vancouver who pay attention to the Lightning and post here, but I am watching.

ryanclassic.net

by Ryan Classic on Nov 19, 2009 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

I will agree with whatever Ryan says when you start knocking the west coast

Oh nice win over the Pens today….crazy game..

by Dani Toth on Nov 20, 2009 12:12 AM EST up reply actions

Only caught half of it, but I saw Chris Phillips score two goals in five minutes (!!)

The win’s a little hollow since it was Gonchar, Eaton, and the Scranton Four on D for Pittsburgh, but I’ll take what I can get. Chased Fleury.

by tankerkevo on Nov 20, 2009 12:09 AM EST up reply actions

Love how much love Stamkos is getting by everyone in the media these days….

by Dani Toth on Nov 20, 2009 12:11 AM EST reply actions

HE’S JUST 19!

This is all the Ducks announcers are saying about him, every chance they get. I mean, I’m glad I have Centre Ice, and I love that I can finally see the Lightning in HD, but sheesh.

pp lightning…need one here

by tankerkevo on Nov 20, 2009 12:20 AM EST reply actions

And being 19, at least Stamkos can drink in Canada….

by Dani Toth on Nov 20, 2009 12:34 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, but they’ll check his ID, because he is, after all, only 19.

Do they mention this on every road broadcast?

4, 26, 91, 77

by Sons of Thor on Nov 20, 2009 12:34 AM EST reply actions

Niedermayer tossed a stick into the stands for a little girl when named first star, and about eight (seriously) people started brawling for it. Scotty looked depressed. At least they got him on the PA saying who it was for.

by Dani Toth on Nov 20, 2009 12:37 AM EST up reply actions

Wow. I’m impressed that so many people participated without John, Tina, and I around to get it started and keeping it going. Too bad the game wasn’t better. They couldn’t get a win, but at least they got a point – especially considering how things started out. Thanks for stopping by, everyone!
