Must be you then. I don’t do messenger that often. I only got 3 people that I chat with and we usually text instead.

Okay. It’s just me, then. That sounds right and good somehow.

For me on messenger it’s usually some sort of pre-planned meeting thing. A lot of times I don’t even have it on.

I have an all-in-one third party messenger, so I don’t have a bunch of different things going on at once. Unless I’m chatting with a bunch of people at once. Then that’s an entirely different story.

Did you see the article in the sptimes on the 24th?
the one about how loose the guys were after practice tuesday?
Yeah. That was fun. Hope they stay that way. Did you see Victor Hedman’s promotional video message? It’s hysterical. I love that guy. He’s so funny.

Haven’t seen the promo message yet. And I am just having trouble with the visual of Todd Fedoruk somersaulting down the hall…. oh to be a fly on the wall for that one. And for the double whammy from Todd and Malone on Kurtis Foster. Poor guy never saw it coming….. LOL

The first part of the game should be a wake up call then. Anybody can beat anybody on any given night. If they don’t know that, they soon will if they aren’t careful.

I’ve got them at home. Well, I have my laptop and a 24" external. Spreadsheets are FAR easier to look at and work on. Not that I do spreadsheets often, just for hockey stats. Adjusted standings, how teams play wearing third jerseys versus not, and PPV win percentages.

I have a 22" screen at work. And while it’s big, two 19" screens would be far easier to deal with. Especially looking at spreadsheets on one screen and map data on the other. That’d be nice.

I had an Apple 30" and my current 24" on one desk a year ago. It was, uh, a lot of screen real estate.
24" is perfect resolution, being 1920 pixels wide. I find two 24s to be ideal. But to each their own.

After one, the game’s tied 2-2. Lightning goal scorers are Meszaros and Lecavalier so far.
Tampa Bay is outshooting the Leafs 14-13; five players each have two SOG. They’re losing the overall faceoff battle, having only won 46%; Stamkos and Lecavalier are each 4-4 (50%). Malone has three hits, Halpern and Stamkos each have a giveaway, and weirdly, St. Louis is a -2 so far.

Tortorella hated the quiz last year
I agree on their sportscasters calling the game…Gord Miller ain’t fantastic. For TSN is really about the anchors
I adore Duthie. He wrote a great post last year about how much horrible luck Ottawa has had with goalies. He coined my favourite title ever:

After two, it’s 4-3 Maple Leafs. Goal scorer in the second was Malone for TBL.
The Lightning are outshooting the Leafs 25-24; Halpern and Lecavalier have four shots each – Tanguay has only one. The Bolts have picked it up in the faceoff circle, and are now winning 53% of the draws. Szczechura is 5-1 (83%), Konopka is 3-1 (75%), and Lecavalier is 10-6 (63%). Malone now has six hits out of the teams total of 12, Lecavalier and Stamkos each have two giveaways, and now Hale joins St. Louis at being a -2.

This game is teaching me an important lesson;
It may only be against Toronto, but gambling on a team you actually want to win is a good way to make sure they loose.
Should have put the $5 on Toronto, then it would be 4-1 to Tampa and I would be happy to be loosing.
;-)
Its silly if you think about it; the national gambling body (TAB) will let you put money on the NHL, but there is no where in the country you can watch the game.
By the way, Mirtle is not at this game – should anyone be interested. My curiosity got the better of me, so I thought I’d ask. Was speculating about that earlier in this thread.

We would like to take this moment where we tell you that Hedman is 18 by letting you know that Steven Stamkos is JUST 19!
Wait, they didn’t do that tonight? What the hell.

But there was three minutes left at the time. So there was plenty of time to tie – and win, if they’d done something differently. They scored their first two goals like 30 seconds apart.

They never did get all the kinks out of the system.
At least Vinny scored a goal. And Vinny and Halpern worked pretty good together. I’m liking that combination.
Yeah, I do, too. Tanguay wasn’t a good fit with them, tho. At least, not tonight.

I'd rather see them switch Tangs and Bugsy.
Put rebound monster back on the line with Vinny and Halpern. That might work though.

And the games that Tangs skated with Marty and Stammer, he didn’t look bad at all. That could give two pretty good lines out there on any given night.
by Tina Robinson on Nov 25, 2009 9:49 PM EST up reply actions
I'd be fine with that
Malone with Vinny didn’t look bad.
Malone – Lecavalier – Halpern
Tanguay – Stamkos – St. Louis

That’s what I was thinking. But Halpern’s playing LW, and that’s Malone’s natural position, too. Who moves to RW on that line?
Or – move Lecavalier to RW and put Halpern at center?

No, I don’t think so. I’m not positive, tho. But I think Vinny’s always either played center or defense.

Not sure Halpern’d care where he played. He strikes me as the kind of player that would play any of the 3 forward positions with no problem.

he looked awkward skating as a forward though
I don’t mean in a “I am used to him as a d-man” kind of way. I mean sort of “What am I doing here?”
But he got minutes — he was doign somethign right.

I do like the concept of the all-rounder. Playing forward or at the blue line depending on what is needed and who else is out there.
It doesn’t happen all that often, but moving a defenseman to forward does happen occasionally. Depends on the team, the player, and what’s going on. You almost never see a forward move back to defense. The only one that’s done that successfully is Sergei Fedorov – tho Lecavalier has some serious potential to do that as well.

He made some good plays and didn’t get caught sleeping at the wheel. Unlike some of them tonight. David Hale has been a real good addition to this hockey team, but it was just his time to have a bad case of the yips. Not a good game for him.
by Tina Robinson on Nov 25, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions
No idea. Only saw that one period, really. He may have been doing stuff, but Pierre was clearly focused on other players in the game, like Steve Stamkos, and Rick Nash.
Wait, Nash wasn’t playing? I’m confused, Pierre.

You think this game will mean Smith will be back in the net?
Looking at the stats for the 2 goalies over 11 games each, Nitty was clearly doing much better than Smith, but they still seem to be sharing.
It's an excuse to start Smith
Niitty did win on Sunday..

Smitty seems to be slowly getting his game back together. I think Tocchet is going to stick to that “play the hot goalie” until one of them forces him to name a #1.
by Tina Robinson on Nov 25, 2009 9:47 PM EST up reply actions
Tocchet has a clear preference for Smith, but Niittymaki has been the better goaltender.
