29 minutes until...
I get to go home. One hour trek to get home and turn on my TV begins THEN!

Fun note: Ryan Lambert at Puck Daddy referred to Smith as Tampa’s “backup goalie” in his weekly recap. Awesome sauce. For my fantasy team, I mean. Kids in the Staal like this.

Whatever you post there will be random people reading it. (Only scary if you think about it too much)
Apart from the commute, will you be hanging around during the game to cheer on the Lightning / Avalanche as appropriate?
Hmm? I’m not Lambert.
I’ll pop in when I get home. I expect a Tampa win, but I’m a good sport about these things. And the conversation here is usually pretty good. No reason not to join in.

Craig Anderson + Ice Girls = Distraction.
Saw it with my own eyes here in Vancouver. Shouted from the rafters at him to stop. Then shouted at the Ice Girls to stop. No luck.

GREAT piece over at behindthenet.com talking about referees giving the away team hard times. It’s chronic among refs.

Nicknames
While we’re at it with players…. The venue goes by a bunch of different names. Well, not really but…
It was formerly “Ice Palace” and people still call it that. Others call it the “Fish Wrap Forum” or “The Forum” for short. I blended the sponsor with the old arena name and call it “Times Palace”.

Nicknames for places are quite hard.
Where I live they have a stadium thats supposed to be called stadium, but everyone calls it the “Cake Tin”, because… well it looks like a cake tin.
Can’t think of any other interesting nickname that aren’t steeped in obscure history and mean something to people who don’t live there.
I see that it’s going to be one of those games where people would rather play with the puck instead of passing or shooting it.

Shots are even at 9-9; Meszaros & Downie each have two. Faceoffs aren’t the best, winning 44% overall – despite Lecavalier winning 63% of his (5-3) and birthday-boy Szczechura winning 67% of his (2-1). Meszaros has three hits, but also has two giveaways.

He loves that car
He named hsi dog Enzo after the car…

Dear Centre Ice and Shaw Cable
I realize that MSG is run by a jerk of an owner who won’t let MSG HD be broadcast on any other cable provider than his own. I’ve learned to accept that. Could you please explain why I cannot get SUN in HD? I have several Centre Ice HD channels that have nothing airing right now.
I’m also confused as to why I only get one network’s broadcast. When I had Comcast in San Francisco, I often got both home and away television broadcasts, even though I could only get Center Ice in SD. But here I only get one network per game. More over, when Colorado plays virtually any other team, you give me Altitude HD.
So what gives? Why am I only getting SUN in SD tonight? What do you have against the Lightning? And me?
Please write me back. I’m so lonely.

Another rookie question… The livescore said a colorado were penalised for “thow stick” (Stasnky).
I know the last colorado game had issues with stick throwing for the goalie, does that apply to everyone?
Yes. Unless your stick is broken, then you have to drop it – otherwise, that’s a penalty. But even then, you can’t throw your stick into the play.

The Lightning are down 2-0 to Colorado after two.
They’re being out-shot 22-17; Meszaros (a defenseman, remember) is leading the team with four shots, while Stamkos has three. Downie, Meszaros, and St. Louis each have two missed shots; while Lecavalier and Meszaros have three “attempted but blocked” shots each. And five players have each blocked a shot.
Team faceoffs are much better, now winning 58% of them; Lecavalier is 11-4 (73%) and Stamkos is 5-2 (71%). Meszaros still has three hits and two giveaways. Lecavalier and Stamkos each have recorded a steal.

No passion, no focus – except for Konopka.

Just went through the motions. That’s 2 in a row that happened. They were lucky enough to tie Dallas. No such this time.

You know, I think I can honestly say that that was the most uninspired game that I’ve ever seen Marty St. Louis play.

I did not see the game, but did the game have any redeeming features from a Lightning point of view?

Does free customization on jerseys from NHL.com count? Too non-sequitor?

Ohlund was back again. Meszaros seemed to have had a good game. Vinny rocked the faceoffs. Konopka tried his best to drag his team into it, but failed. Other than that? Meh, not so much.

On the downside (or not depending if you are a Nitty fan), Smith will probably be back for the next game.
Too bad, because in no way was this Niitty’s fault at all.

Yep. I’m closing up shop and turning off the lights here. Good night, all. And thanks for stopping in. Hope to see you – and anyone else who happens by – on Wednesday.
