Ryan Craig is at Scotiabank Place

He’s taking warmups with the team, as per Erik Erlendsson’s report on twitter. No word if he’ll be playing yet.

Cool, even comes with pictures now.

Hockey related question; Looking to see if the WHL site will stream ok for my location and was wondering if anyone knows of any good WHL games / matchups worth watching? (as I know nothing about thet teams playing).

Su suggests any games with the Portland Winterhawks. Or, as we in the NW say, the PDX Winterhawks. PDX is their aiport code.

Thanks John and Cassie,

Will check out the Hitmen and the Winterhawks (the WHL has some entertaining names, which is cool). Makes for a better decision than randomly picking a team and seeing what happens.

They've played a lot in their own end

The Tanguay goal was luck from working the rebounds. But most of the game the senators have been outplaying the Bolts.

And lets be frank (no pun intended)

He’s stable in net. Mike’s reminding me of John Grahame right now when he plays — I’m perpetually on edge and cannot be confident that he’ll make the routine stops. He commits early and leaves things open — that or he blows a routine save.

I like Mike as a character — but his game is off. I’ve got no remedy but it’s just off…

Alrighty. Shots were 14-7 Ottawa. Surprisingly, those seven Lightning shots were well-distributed across the team – seven players, seven shots. Overall, the team’s faceoffs are good; winning 54%. Halpern is 5-1 (83%), while Lecavalier is 1-3 (25%). Meszaros has two hits, Hedman has two blocked shots, and Vinny has three missed shots. Interestingly balanced stats across the team. Usually, one or two players are dominant.

Really. And it's the right call.

Think back to the call on Foligno after Foster rubbed Kovalev’s face into the padding where the bench and boards join last Sens game.

But Downie did the right thing. And Tocchet better challenge his team to make Neil pay.

It’s looks good, but I’d like to see Wright on that line instead of Tanguay. Tho Tanguay seems to be doing a lot better this time around with Vinny.

Matt Pettinger just scored for the Canucks

by Dani Toth on Nov 5, 2009 9:21 PM EST reply actions

Let’s see…Stamkos has three shots while Vinny and Veilleux have two each. The Sens are still outshooting the Bolts, now 20-13. Konopka’s a beast in the faceoff circle, having won 4-1 (80%); and Halpern’s at 8-5 for 62%. Veilleux and Meszaros each have three hits, Ohlund has three blocked shots, and Lecavalier has four missed shots.

The score’s 2-2 after two. Tampa Bay’s 2-5 on the PP, while Ottawa’s 1-4.

The D needs to be more aggressive

…hell, so do the forwards digging the puck out of their own end. They’re leaving all the work up to Frank. They’re giving the game away… They need to be more up front about getting the puck out of their own end

The defensemen have been atrocious. Every single one of them at any given time. Nobody’s consistent – or paying attention to positioning or their assignments. I hate that.

@TBLightning Hedman will not return. He is being further evaluated in the Lightning locker room after a dirty hit from Chris Neil.

Talk of that Neil hit on Hedman is all over Twitter, by the way. Supposedly, on the reverse camera angle, Neil threw an elbow. Can’t confirm that, tho.

42 seconds into the clip or so...

Neil’s thrusting his forearm at and Hedman’s head is being propelled back. Like he got hit in the jaw on the hit.

They just showed the higher angle of the shot

I don’t think it was dirty. Neil did use his forearm… But I think Hedman caught it accidentally, not intentionally.

To strive, to seek, to find, and to forever keep it Raw. Raw Charge.

by John Fontana on Nov 5, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

That was fast. It looks to me like he led with his elbow/forearm. Headman was hurt / concussed but don’t know if that makes it a dirty hit.

by Sidicus on Nov 5, 2009 9:44 PM EST up reply actions

that would change things

but Hedman did look like he was in a lowered stance with his head down…i just…it IS neil but i want to give him the benefit of the doubt here. hope footage of the other angle surfaces.

One period to go. Any predictions / feelings about the game?

Can Nitty stop another 12 odd shots in a row?
Can #4 score?

Are we going to start shooting the much more than once every 2-3 minutes?

I am really hoping we can do it and it signals a turn-around from earlier in the season.

by Danny180 on Nov 5, 2009 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

It’s a very winnable game, tho they’re going to have to figure out how they’re going to fill those 8+ minutes that Hedman would be playing. And I have total confidence in Niitty. Lecavalier might score, but that’s 50-50 chance right now. Hopefully it won’t go into OT!

The defense needs some work. I thought that Lecavalier looked more confident – but, as a side note, he was playing as he has been playing; it’s just his attitude that was different. Same with Tanguay. And Niitty was stellar, as always.
