Well. Another night, another game. And how has everyone’s weekend gone?

Yep – like a couple of days ago. Ah, the joys of an 82-game schedule! Just wait until we hit the end of January.

You couldn’t stand the layoffs between games in October/November… Now they’re all right on top of each other!

Wait until the season’s over. We’ll all be so used to this thread thing that we’ll be going nuts by May. Hockey withdrawals and all that.

Guess that’s when we’ll really need a non-game night chat, just to ease the withdrawal symptoms. But then again, if the Bolts get this thing straightened out, they could be playing til some time in June….

With Chicago's record of homerism

with TV broadcasts, I feel bad if you do end up with the Chicago feed. I just pray it’s not as bad as a Cubs or White Sox game for you

I hate it when there’s a delay between the audio and the video, tho. So I’ll probably just suffer thru the homerism.

Depends on how bad the homerism is. It gets really pathetic, I’ll put up with the delay.

And just as a totally random aside....

To answer the question in the title of this game thread…. I prefer regular or crispy crust…don’t like deep dish..too much dough.

Mmmm! I love thick crust. The crust and sauce are the best parts. I don’t like a lot of cheese on my pizza.

I’ll do without the sauce, unless I have garlic bread to dip in it. Like with pasta and sauce. Strange, because I love tomatoes.

I like both.

Personally I prefer a chewy pizza so hand tossed or deep dish are fine with me – though I have not had an authentic Chicago deep dish before.

It’s the best ever. They either do a really really good thin crust, that doesn’t need a lot of topping, just tomato sauce, a little cheese and basil or a really neat like pan foccacia with diff toppings in diff areas, like a chess board

That may be the problem then. The deep dish pizza I’ve had around here is just way too doughy. And the crust is too done on the outside and not done enough on the inside. Don’t like burnt crust….

Why are Stamkos and Malone playing? Must be because putting them on the IR automatically limits how soon they can come back. But jeez. Way to risk your players’ health.

Can’t watch tonight, but go Lightning. Try not to lose in overtime. 11-11-10 won’t look good on you.

Cross sports for a minute

Playoffs in baseball a few years ago… Boston versus the Yankees… Pedro Martinez was able to judge if he was able to go or not for another inning of baseball and his manager believed him and kept him in.

And the Red Sox collapsed in that next inning.

He needs to increase his speed when passing

And when passed two. THAT’s the problem with scoring – it’s nto the shots, it’s not the screens, it’s not too much passing. It’s the speed of passes. If a goalie can follow the puck, it’s never going to get by him.

This goes for Marty, Alex, and everyone else. They have slowed down with passes too much before shooting. Back-and-fourth, slow like a hypnotist with a watch. Yet no one is being snoozed into giving up a goal.

They’re being out-shot 11-5; St. Louis has two shots. They’re losing in the faceoff circle, having only won 40%; despite Lecavalier being 4-2 for (67%). Konopka has two hits, Walker has three blocked shots, and Downie has one turnover.

The Lightning are now down 3-0 after two.

They’re being out-shot 18-14; Foster & St. Louis each have three shots. They’re not doing well in faceoffs still, winning only 42% of them overall; three players are now at 50%. Meszaros has three hits, Lecavalier two turnovers, Malone two steals, and Ohlund & Walker each have three blocked shots.

So what are Zenon Konopka and Todd Fedoruk? thoroughly skilled, finesse scoring wingers?

Rick Tocchet has been doing a lot of “Saving” of the top liners for the next game… Benching them with plenty of time left. You then see comments in the media about a benching — not a "saving them " or "resting them.

I invite you to coem to our next game thread as comments happen instead of replying to remarks after the game has finished.

So it’s not just me anymore, huh? I’m not the only one who’s seeing a continuation of last season here? You can’t blame the players when it’s half the team that’s not doing well – the veteran half, no less.

You can't.

I coudl give tocchet the benefit of the doubt for last season, but now he doesn’t have the excuses.

He loves the young guys, he loves the lower lines, he doesn’t seem to know what to do with anyone else.

I just don't see an end to this perimeter attack

someone needs to play the slot at all times and not just play from the point. Also, Ranger I empathize if you have had loss in your family, but your team needs you. Get back to work!

I’m a little afraid to see what kind of shape Ranger will be in when he comes back. IF he comes back.

It's not just the shooting

It’s passing issues, it’s attitude from the top down. The sense of urgency. There’s the recklessness that seems to creep in all too oftent hat results in bad penalties

Zero discipline.

I wouldn’t say “zero”, but discipline disappears at inappropriate times, certainly.

I don't know much about him

Didn’t look him up after you posted. I know him by name but not the story off the top of my head.
