Springtime in Boston: Lightning at Bruins open comment thread
Tampa Bay Lightning at Boston Bruins, Mar 31, 2009 7:00 PM EDT
Three victories.
All Time.
In Boston.
That's a lot of losses, and an uphill battle for the Bolts against the Beast-of-the-East Bruins. Mike McKenna gets the start in the crease for the Lightning against Manny Fernandez for the B's. Here are the current projected lines for both teams:
There's a conversation going on elsewhere on the interwebs that with the projected lineup above, Steven Stamkos is being "punished" for his game slipping the last few games. The subtext is that to play with dynamic wing and former Hart Trophy winner St. Louis, you gotta bring your A game... And Stamkos hasn't of late.
Also of note, Matt Smaby will be a game-time decision to play on D...
This is an open comment thread about the game and also an opportunity to send out quick messages about subjects related to hockey, the team, sports in general...

And in all honesty
…I named this open thread before Erik E. at the Tribune posted a blog update on the team with the same “Springtime in Boston” name. I just never changed mine while editing the post.

You're suspect!
Just kidding. I’ll try to remember to stop by your open thread at some point during the game. Feel free to stop by the Stanley Cup of Chowder open thread for a different perspective on the game. I like it when knowledge fans of the opposing team stop by.

Thanks for the invite
May or may not do so — most of it depends on if the Lightning actually play a game of hockey that doesn’t end up making me throw my hands up in disgust.

Meh
and I find out there’s no TV in the Tampa Bay area tonight. That in itself is worthy of a post.

I am on NHL.com now
Oh man, Chara and Artoo dropped’em??

Lucic finished his hit after the whistle, there was a little scrum and Chara kind of blindsided him. I give the decision to Chara but he held his own.

Lucic pretty much one-punched him. That guy bit off more than he could chew there.

That’s what happens when your coach tells you have more passion, and even though size wise it should have been good, Melichar just doesn’t fight
Yeah, I don’t think he really wanted to drop the gloves there but I give him credit for trying to go toe to toe with Lucic.
