Tampa Bay NBC affiliate to pre-empt Game 1 of Stanley Cup Finals (UPDATED)
WFLA-TV here in Tampa has an annual broadcast telethon to raise money for All Children's Hospital. And their annual broadcast has trumped Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings (as well as taped coverage of the French Open).
WFLA has also denied putting the game on their spare digital channel as well, in favor of syndicated TV shows/re-runs.
The NHL is currently trying to remedy the situation.
UPDATE (2:51 PM EDT): Sun Sports TV (regional cable sports broadcast network) will air the game at it's scheduled time on Saturday night. Hat tip to WBPhilip in comments.
