Honestly, I can't get a handle on this situation, and I'm not alone. When you talk to people around the hockey world, they just shrug about the Lightning. Essentially, nothing the Lightning would do this summer would surprise anyone.

I suppose that could be just a sign of Bolts management keeping things close to the vest! But of course it's more a sign of their reputation among league observers. Hang in there, Bolts fans.

Yeah, it's their reputation before anything else
They sign Dan Boyle to a big contract and then trade him for nothing
They sign Barry Melrose to a big contract and then they fire him
Their reputation is to be absent minded…

Trade him for nothing?
Ty Wishart and the pick that got us Meszaros is “nothing”? Paying Dan Boyle 7 million dollars until hes 38 is “something”… the way that it happened was rather crappy, but when that cap goes down we will be a LOT better off.
