So Greg Logan, who has changed horses several times about the top pick in the draft, is now predicting Matt Duchene as the Islanders #1 pick in Friday's NHL draft.

What an unlikely scenario. I wonder what the fallout in the draft would be from that? < end snark >

If this happens, where do we go?

Do we trade out of the 2 spots and advise the Leafts we want the farm? Do we stay and take Taveras? or Do we go with the “2 slot” guy Hedman as predictions have been made?

IMO, I think we should trade the pick and move down. As much as I would love to take Taveras or Hedman, I would prefer to move back some slots and get some depth. This opinion was brought to you by “a guy who will probably change his opinion by Tuesday or earlier” =)

OK, if you saw the post I made about this scenario...

Trading directly with Toronto (their 7th for our 2nd) directly doesn’t have to happen. If it does, Burke does have to pay a steep price…. But if he can swing a deal for the #3 pick, he gets what he EXPECTS the Lightning to leave for the picking (Tavares).

Now, lets say Burke does pull that off. He may want to guarantee he gets Tavares and offers a smaller package to TB (the #3 pick overall and something extra) for the #2 pick. It just allows the leafs to get Tavares while the Bolts still get Hedman and something extra for swapping spots.

But it all depends on what the Leafs have to give up to the Avs in order to move to #3.

Simple, draft Hedman.

Hes the player that fills the most glaring hole. Franchise forwards come around quite a bit. Giant, two way franchise d-men do not.

I wonder what the fallout in the draft would be from that?

For one thing, about 10,000 people rioting and bringing Nassau Coliseum to a premature demolition :)

Lighthouse Hockey: Side effects may include Weight gain and frequent game loss.
