Ohlund: "I only spoke with Tampa."
Source: Aftonbladet.se
There was an Interview with Mattias Öhlund yesterday in the local newspaper Norrbottens-kuriren, that got picked up by the biggest national newspaper in Sweden, Aftonbladet.
Here's my translation of The Aftonbladet article:
A decision involving 200 million Swedish kronor involves a lot of consideration.
That's why Mattias Ohlund took twenty minutes to think it over.
After that the signing was complete.
[....]
- Everything felt right. I was looking for a change. I won't say I was not motivaded but I wanted to play for a new team.
Ohlund has been one of Vancouvers best defenders for eleven seasons, but on July 1st at 6PM local Swedish time he became a free agent and knew nothing about his future.
At 6.05 PM things became a lot clearer.
Tampa Bay called immediately and offered up a 26.25 million dollar contract and asked him to call them back. He called them back at 6.25 PM.
- I didn't have time to call any other teams. Everything felt right from the get go. Ohlund added that he think's he'll be a good asset for the sruggling team:
- I feel like I have the best years of my career ahead of me.
End of article.
I hope the translation isn't to bad.
