Bolts ink RFA Martins Karsums

The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced a resigning today of Martins Karsums, one of the many players they have left to resign. Brian Lawton announced the resigning deal as a one year contract .

I frequently call the 5-foot-10, 198 pound winger butterball because of his form and playing ability to bowl into players against the boards. He was acquired through a trade along with Matt Lashoff in exchange for veteran winger Mark Recchi last season. He posted a goal and five assists last season playing on the third and fourth line. Over the summer he played with his native team Latvia putting up one goal and three assists.

Although there have been no financial terms disclosed I would be under the impression this was a cheap resigning for the Lightning keeping a clear path to sign one more top six forward. Karsums should posess the ability to score on the third or fourth line althought I would have much rather seen Brandon Segal back in a Lightning uniform.
