NBC Sunday Game of the Week 1/31, Lightning at Caps... who do you guys want to deal with Ovechkin? Let's finish what we started with this guy! I'm pretty sure the rest of the league would be pretty happy if one of these guys taught Ovary to play nice...

-Downie: He started it, now let him finish it, this time with no Matt Bradley riding to the resuce...

-Konopka?

-Vinny: Captain on Captain action?

-How about bringing Big Mitch Fritz up from Norfolk for the occasion?

Contradiction / hypocrisy

While I am not someone who favors going after players like this, or encouraging it for that matter (thus the non response), weren’t you the one who commented just the other day saying that Rick Tocchet was a “coward” for not sending someone after Ovie to retaliate for his showboating last season?

To me, that’s just as much a “goon mentality”. Tocchet got on the players (at the time) for not responding physically to Ovie’s showboating. No one took a run at Ovie for the deed, that was the fault…

You blamed Tocchet, Tocchet blamed the players, and I blame the fact it was a last-place team being shown up by the top goal scorer in the league. He’ll get his as it plays out – but to deliberately plan things to play out physically is just as much BS as calling guys cowards for not encouraging players to take a run at a showboat.

Ovechkin should have been taken care of the same night if not while he was celebrating….retaliation later meaningless. So there’s no contradiction, Jack. Surely you could have figured that out before that lame post.
