Help for Haiti: Lightning vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs Preview

WHERE: St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa, Florida
WHEN: 7 PM EST
MEDIA: Sun Sports (cable), 620 WDAE (radio)

Select tickets for this game include a donation to the Red Cross for Haiti relief. Tickets for this game also include a donation to the Vincent Lecavalier Foundation as well. So go out to the game to support the Lightning, the Vincent Lecavalier Foundation, the American Red Cross, and Haitian earthquake victims.

Mike Smith participated at morning skate today with the team. However, so did Dustin Tokarski. It is expected that Smith will not be in the lineup tonight, but it’s a good sign that he’s practicing with the team. Rumor has it that Tokarski could be starting this game instead of Niittymaki, but we’ll see if that actually happens or not.

After the debacle at the Garden, the Lightning will be changing up their lineup a bit. Brandon Bochenski and Victor Hedman will likely be sitting. Kurtis Foster was seen practicing with the forwards this morning.

The Lighting have just picked up another center from the New York Islanders on waivers, Nate Thompson. It’s not clear whether or not he’ll be in the lineup against the Leafs. He has one goal, five assists, and 39 PIMs in 39 games this season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are 17-25-9 this season, and are 2-3 in their last five games.

I'm just not understanding why the Lightning claimed Thompson...

He seems like a 4th line kind of guy (1g 5a 39PIM)… Like the Lightning don’t have enough of those already? Unless Lawton has something else in the works (haven’t heard any rumblings of that) or he just wants to use the new player as a way to motivate some of the guys (as in "you don’t play, we’ll put the “new guy” in and see how he does" kind of thing)… Just don’t get this one… And there’s Todd Fedoruk as a healthy scratch, so they have enough of those kind of guys. Unless there’s something about Thompson that’s gonna turn him into the top 6 forward we’ve been needing all year? Yeah, I didn’t think so…

I have come to a conclusion... Martin St Louis = waterbug on meth...
