Vernace demoted to Norfolk

The Lightning dropped a player from it's roster on Friday, sending defenseman Mike Vernace to the Norfolk Admirals. of the AHL.

Vernace was a -2 in seven games played this season and has recorded 63:45 of ice time and took five shots on goal.

The Lightning are now down to seven defensemen, while carrying 13 forwards.   Simon Gagne is on injured reserve and currently doesn't count against the roster total up until he's activated, which could occur on Saturday.

Norfolk is looking good

I feel a lot better than the last 2 years having Roy and Vernace at Norfolk in case of Lightning D injuries. Vernace has a lot of skill and will help Norfolk immensely. Last year we were forced to call up youngsters with little to no NHL experience. I think it will pay huge dividends in our prospects development to have them playing in a stable, winning environment.
