In one respect, the news of Mattias Ohlund's knee injury can look like horrible news. One of the Bolts leaders and top-pair defensemen being out of action for an extended time (at least two weeks) is not what we want to see.
On the other hand, unless the Bolts want to change their plans and only carry seven defensemen instead of eight -- as was the plan since this summer -- the Lightning's D-men on the bubble (Michael Vernace, Mathieu Roy and Matt Smaby) have an official stay-of-execution... Well, that is, if Ohlund is placed on injured reserve by the cut-down deadline of Wednesday, October 6th, at 3 PM.
For more on the Ohlund situation, check with the St. Pete Times.
