Nine-teen!

Ten games, 19 points, and the NHL's #1 star for the month of October.  That's the line for Steven Stamkos:

While the honors are nice, and the props that come with them...  well, the fact remains we're ten games in.  A lot can happen over the next 72...  And Stamkos' contributions will be vital over that timespan.

Congratulations Steven.  The full 3 Stars report from the NHL is available here.

After the jump, a couple of highlights from Stamkos opening month.

a HUGE and well deserved... CONGRATS to Steven Stamkos!!

Good to see the league finally recognized it as well. It boggles my mind why Stammer doesn’t get the same star treatment Ovie and Cindy Corsby seem to get. Yeah, once in a while you’ll see him alongside them and/or maybe Toews for a benefit/promo pic. But still no where near the other “stars” …Much like Datsyuk in Detroit..amazing player!!

BUT, something tells me that may finally start to change. And this months honor looks like a good sign of that. Hard to deny with 19 points!! This is only the beginning, I’m sure. Especially now under the leadership of Boucher and Yzerman, will for sure help to see his extreme amount of talent does not go to waste one bit. Not to mention, training with Gary Roberts will help prevent the one thing that could hurt him.. injury. And add some strength and size in the process.

If you’ve never seen Stamkos in person or up close… the guy is pretty damn big already. Much more than you would think seeing his nice red face in a suit on some promo pic or playing on live on tv. On top of his obvious offensive skills, he knows how to throw his weight well, which is a big part of landing a crushing/effective hit.

Well done Stammer!! Keep up the great work!!
