WHERE: Another Bailed Out Bank Arena, Boston, Massachusetts
WHEN: 7 PM EDT
MEDIA: Sun Sports (cable), 620 WDAE (radio)
To put things in perspective for tonight's contest at What-Corporate-Bank-Owns-Naming-Rights-this-week Arena in Boston, to win the game may keep the Bolts slim playoff hopes alive; to lose it would be the final nail in the coffin of playoff contention. The Bolts would be done.
They'll have to solve one or the other of Boston's two-headed goalie monster if they figure to pull out a victory tonight. Tim Thomas has been a formidable netminder all season and Tuukku Rask is statistically atop the league in both save percentage (.930) and Goals against average (2.02).
For teh Bolts, the countdown continues to see if Martin St. Louis can reach 30 goals for the season (he's at 26) and Steven Stamkos quest for the big 5-0 (he's currently at 43). St. Louis will reach the 60 assist plateau for the first time in his career with his next helper.
In other news today, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Norfolk Admirals have agreed to complete their affiliation contract. The Ads will serve as Tampa Bay's AHL affiliate for the fifth year of their five year agreement. Where it goes from there has yet to be seen. Norfolk owner Ken Young wants the Admirals to be playoff contenders. That would help if the Lightning were a better stocked organization, talent-wise.
2010 NHL entry draft prospect
Continuing our look at some of the top prospects for this years Entry draft (taken from The Scouting Report)
Every season the World Juniors proves to be a place where a few players really bolster their draft stock, and this was the case with Switzerland native Nino Niederreiter. After coming over to play in the WHL this season, Niederreiter has been a strong player for the Winterhawks showing a combination of skill and physical play which has eased his transition to Canadian Junior Hockey. There’s no doubt that his play at the World Juniors really solidified his place in the top half of the first round as Niederreiter was one of the better players at the entire tournament despite being only 17 years old. He’ll be expected to parlay some of that success into a strong playoff run with the Winterhawks, as they have loaded up for a playoff run this season.
