I’m honestly very happy to hear this news. I was getting a lil nervous, cause I really wanted Downz to sign with us. Glad he did. Can’t wait to see him play again. Hope Guy can use his temper to good… to score some goals preferably. Not need to goon things up, Stevie ;)

In a perfect world
Paul Ranger would come back or at least sign and ask for a trade….but great news about Downie….
As I like tos ay
…even if Ranger said he was coming back tomorrow, I wouldn’t give him a shot in the NHL right off the bat. He’d be destined for Norfolk (or even the Everblades) to get back into the game.
We’ve been patient with him, he needs to earn a slot and earn back our trust.

Exactly. He’s been out for how long? Well… too long. After being out of the NHL for such a long period of time you can’t just “come back”. You could as well put me in a Ranger jersey and send me out there to play instead of him. The result would be probably the same.

I wouldn’t mind seeing this.
Love the Lightning? Hate the Lightning? Me too! http://donttradevinny.blogspot.com
Hahaha! Well… I wouldn’t mind it too. I would probably get killed but hey, worth a shot, non?

I'll probably catch a lot of flak for this, but...
I group the Ranger situation in with Kovalchuk’s contract: issues which I wish I didn’t have to listen to any more, and just wish they would go away. One way or the other, the situation needs resolution.
He’s been gone nearly a year—a light year from being in game shape and being able to quickly and accurately read the game.
I would go one further than John—I think he’d be lucky to go to the Everblades. I think his game is gone for good.
in the end, a monumental burden of proof is on Ranger. That’s the best way to put it IMHO.

Favorable cap hit
I’d say Y or Brisebois negotiated a pretty fair cap hit for the team on this one.
