For the Lightning, tonight's match-up with the Ottawa Senators is the absolute halfway point of the NHL season. It's game #615 of 1,230 to be played in the NHL regular season.
This is game #42 -- you know, the answer to life, the universe, and everything. -- for both clubs. For the Lightning, it's the first game after the pummeling in Pittsburgh, with a rested and regrouped roster. For Ottawa? Well, they are playing the flip-side of back-to-back games. They went the distance with the Chicago Blackhawks last night and fell in the shootout.
Speaking of back-to-back games, this is also the first of a back-to-back affair for the Lightning (yes, two in a week). They're due to visit The Rock in Newark tomorrow and the New Jersey Devils.
But first things first. And that's Ottawa. I'm expecting a rebound effort.
Victor Hedman stands accused of being the culprit in Sidney Crosby's concussion that kept him out of action last night and will keep him out the next few days. At least that's the story coming from some. Others think that Crosby was concussed during the Winter Classic.
Whatever, Kid Sid is out of action. You can find plenty of more coverage at Puck Daddy.
Dwayne Roloson will get the start in net tonight, or is at least slated for it, and has been since yesterday.
Don't forget, the Lightning are holding a watch party at Champions Sports Bar downtown tonight. If you have Facebook, you may want to RSVP on there. The team tends to have contests and giveaways tied to it.
