The Debut/Preview of the '12-'13 Season Alternate Jersey???

The NHL has begun to sell the "Black Ice" line of NHL jersey apparel. The Lightning "Black Ice" jersey is pretty much EXACTLY what I was hoping our new alternates would look like, image below the jump.

As you can see it pays a good respect to the team's history while still incorporating the new direction of the image.I think the grays in the jersey could be lighter/more white, but overall the color scheme and design is pretty cool with black solids and blue outlines/highlights and would make a great alternate for Saturday night/Sunday afternoon home games.

This is just a design line

It’s not the alternates for next season. Vinik/Leiweke wouldn’t allow them to become public without stating the plan.

The NHL has had alternate design lines for years. Those designs rarely, if ever, become official designs of logos or jerseys.

Yeah, they’re called “Black Ice” jerseys and they have them for every team. Novelty item.

That wouldn't look good on the ice at all.

I would prefer a throwback to the Cup sweaters for a new alt, if anything.

What I want to see is that design – Black, white, blue, gray – but the new logo on it. I’ve seen T-shirts (Patti MacDonald has it) with the current logo on black and it looks killer.

I’d be fine with all blue and all white jerseys as long as the alts incorporate black liberally. That was one of our key colors.

Saw one of these at the home opener

..Before I knew the league was selling them. Remember saying “what the hell is up with that jersey?” Not that I don’t like them necessarily, just hadn’t seen one before. Also, they seemed even darker in person. Almost thought it might have been home made, be it very well made. Good idea.. wouldn’t transfer well on the ice though. Some areas, mainly the grey and logo, actually almost have a shine to them, hence the name “black ice” I guess.
