An ailing Lightning recall Johan Harju from Norfolk
Word earlier today from Erik Erlendsson said forward Ryan Malone could be out for up to two-months with his current injury. Nate Thompson continues to recover from what Guy Boucher describes as a mild concussion. Defenseman Mike Lundin is hurting, as is Mattias Ohlund and Matt Smaby too...
First things first, though. The Lightning addressed the Ryan Malone injury by recalling Johan Harju from the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. Harju has amassed 18 goals and 35 points in 40 games for the Ads this season in his North American debut.
But the story on Harju doesn't end there, however. We could touch on the brief moments that Johan had with the Lightning earlier this season (he has 1 goal and 1 assist in 7 games with the Bolts - primarily played in November and December), but that wasn't what got people's attention over the NHL All-Star break: Harju's unhappiness with the lack of opportunity with the Lightning and the potential he'd return to Europe after the season.
Well, Johan, your opportunity has arrived. Make the most of it.
we don't know what other recalls are forthcoming - if any. A D-man being recalled is not out of the question, though.

Harju has the bigger upside
And more offensive prowess. I think they also want to convince him he’s a part of their long term plans. I’m not conviced either Jones or Wright are more than 3rd or 4th line centers in the NHL. The Bolts need a tough physical d-man who can also handle the puck like Bogosian, Seabrook, Brewer or Jovanoski. Replace one or more of Lundin, Clark or Jones with either of those 4 and your making a marked improvement.

Rewarding whining
Could be interpreted as stevie Y bending to player complaints…or he’s saying put your money where your mouth is!
