Following along on Twitter, everything is going very fast and very furious.
Grimaldi went 33rd — to the Pantehrs.

sure seems that way
I’m pre-reading a paper for a conference next week, and every time I look up, it’s like there have been five more picks

I don’t know who that is. But I don’t know who any of these guys are, so that’s not surprising

Lightning site says:
Just turned 18 last week
5’10, 160 lbs
Russian (shocker)
very skilled winger
led his junior team to an MHL championship with 58 points (27 goals, 31 assists)

With the 58th overall pick (second round) the Lightning selects wing Nikita Kucherov

@TBLightning, after about three tweets about Kucherov
said that they were wrong and that the Bolts actually selected Nesterov
People are asking Erik Erlendsson if they’re sure we took Kucherov, and he says yes
BoltsProspects are still talking about Kucherov
Is the Bolts twitter operating trolling?

I'm just reading the BP twitter
strong goal-scorer/puck-mover as an AHL defenseman, hasn’t yet translated it to the NHL. 26 years old. Expect him in Tampa, not Norfolk.

I also went over to Lighthouse Hockey
apparently, he’s an RFA, and none of them saw room for him in their plans next year. However, the consensus is that now that he’s in Tampa, he’ll suddenly become good/consistent/whatever and be a key part in a deep playoff run

either way i like seeing a NHL familiar name coming back for prob a 7th rounder.
small tho. only 6’0 188
especially being a younger defenseman
presumably, there’s room for improvement, and improvement is something we could use. in the interim, if he’s better than Smaby, that’s not nothing

former teammate of thompson and close friend of his.... dan lacroix(something like that)
says hes smart and makes a good first pass and has a high compete level. small and fast are the players that flourish in bouchers system. no worries we are just drafting the red army this year. (no pun intended on a wings reference)

"[The Lightning] are uncanny. When they want to get a goal, it's like they just snap their fingers or hit a button. They just dial it up. You can see it. It's like they flip a switch. When they are down, it's just like they think, 'we know we are going to score.' I don't know what it is, it leaves [the opposition] flabbergasted." - Mike Knuble, 3 May 2011

What husband points I made yesterday are going to be completely spent on this afternoon of nothing but hockey.

you bet cooper had a word with yzerman about this kid.
a buddy of mine played goalie for souix falls of the USHL two years ago and last year played for Northeastern with the big D man oleksiak. wish we would have taken him. He grew up here in tampa always been his dream to get drafted by the bolts

My concern
In Greenbay, he’s the backup to an undrafted goalie. Seems like a late-round gamble.

I was actually talking about the backing up an undrafted goalie than the gamble part of it—for that very reason.

Smaller=more mobile and more speed
Both are keys in effective implementation of the 1-3-1.

I watched him for a few weeks in Norfolk
He really plays well against AHL competition. Not sure why that hasn’t translated better to the NHL.
Is Peca the younger brother of Michael?

So, Stevie Y likes Russians…. who’d a thunk it…
Dwayne Roloson: "You damn [insert team name here]! GET OFF MY LAWN!!"
Namestnikov’s a great choice, then, since he speaks both Russian & English fluently. He can help the guys who haven’t lived in North America acclimate. That’s going to be a big help.
Win or lose, I'm proud of these guys.

Has a great rundown of the Russians by Al Murray. Seems the other two Russians could have been 1-2 round picks if they hadn’t lived in Russia.
