"All the respect in the world. I had many offers. They just couldn't be in that range. No need for me to handcuff the team"
Brad Richards remarking on contract discussions with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bolts are out of the running for Brad's services.

Likewise, I have loads of respect for Brad.
Not every situation is a fit, and quite frankly we weren’t at all a candidate save for our previous history with him. Good for him to get the deal he deserves. It was also nice that he didn’t waste our time and right away told us it wasn’t happening.
Now let’s put Stamkos under wraps.
you're not defending him are you?
are you his mom?

I think everyone knew Ritchie wasn’t coming back. Too much money, not enough cap space.
My prediction: the owners push for easier buyouts as part of the next CBA. My guess is the JM would have exercised that option had it not been as punishing to our team long term.
"[The Lightning] are uncanny. When they want to get a goal, it's like they just snap their fingers or hit a button. They just dial it up. You can see it. It's like they flip a switch. When they are down, it's just like they think, 'we know we are going to score.' I don't know what it is, it leaves [the opposition] flabbergasted." - Mike Knuble, 3 May 2011

Heard the meeting only lasted like 15 minutes. That had to be funny and sad, at the same time. Good thing JM has “other” business while he’s there.
So... if that was just the beginning? Can't friggin' wait to see what's next!! A HUGE Thank You to Mr. Vinik, Steve Yzerman, Guy Boucher & the whole damn Lightning team/organization!! 100% Continued support and respect.

actually
the metting lasted about an hour an 15 min.
its the frontloaded 12M per we couldnt afford. we can afford 6.5 mill avg. he woulda taken 6 avg to play here i think. but im guessing SY was offering like gagne money like 5.25 or 5mill to play here.
This is why Richards was traded in the first place.
Now on Twitter @Carcillo_

Ritchie goes to Gotham
I heard yesterday the NYR were given the option to match any offer. That signaled to me he was the Rangers’ to lose.

We were short on righties on the blueline.

Every time I hear how the NHL and hockey in general, is in such need for right handed D-Men… I kick myself even harder. That was/is my position!! Love playing it too, damn it, haha.

On the other hand (pun intended) I’m a righty but prefer to play on the off side. Makes it more difficult to play the puck off the dasher, but I really enjoy that side.

It's kinda funny
Because if I’m not mistaken, this kid is one that Brian Lawton wanted to sign when he came out of BU when Lawton was GM here….
Dwayne Roloson: "You damn [insert team name here]! GET OFF MY LAWN!!"
