My focus is on gilroy.
Lundin being gone was all but confirmed before Free Agency began. I wish him nothing but the best. I don’t like how the organization generally gave him and Matt Smaby cold shoulders. That’s not saying anything against Steve Yzerman, I mean Lundin was shafted during the OK Hockey days.

There’s a local roaster here in Middle TN that puts out this one they call “African Smoke,” that is the darkest, richest, most amazing blend I’ve ever had. I seriously open the bag and just smell it for minutes at a time.

Well, since I teach in the South, I get a lot of different sorts of misinformation. One of the big ones is that the Civil War was about “states’ rights” as if slavery had nothing to do with it. (I have had kids say it was about the Bank of the US, which is really wrong.) So I kinda make the point that it was about slavery, but that that doesn’t mean that northerners were racially tolerant or more progressive or anything.

As you may have heard, I’ve been fighting for Pekka’s job over at OtF. One of the arguments the other side has made is that the team will play better in front of an inexperienced goalie. But I think that when you can’t trust your goalie, it makes things harder. I thought the whole Ellis/Smitty thing just ended up discouraging the guys, rather than making them better. What do y’all think?

CAustin, I agree with you. My opinion is based on our experiences here in Tampa. We have been through Denis, Grahame, Ellis and a handful of others in the past few years. It can’t be fun for a skater to bust his @$$ all game to lose it in the 3rd on a soft goal or 2.

Think Smellis worked both ways… the D did seem to focus more for those guys… but that was at the expense of creating a better counter attack, and you can tell somedays were just disheartening and the burden on the skaters was too heavy

crap i forgot philly in my root post…. hmmm ok 2 of mtl, philly, buf out and cats and nyi in :)
(no rational on the isles, other than they are young, started heating up at the end of the season and will be intact to start the new one)
Kub, hate to admit it (not quite sure why) but I’m with you on the Isles. I’d love to see them in there is spite of Garth Snow and that owner who is so aptly named.

lots of folks are getting very nervous about the Central next year. I don’t know whether its just general negativity or not, but a lot of folks are saying the Central division will be tight. Now that Columbus has an actual goalie (Go Dex!) and a defense, they could be much more challenging.

I don’t know enough about Eastern conference teams to predict. And I don’t see much change in the Western Conference. San Jose and LA got a bit better, but they were in last year. Columbus got better but not enough unless Steve Mason gets his head fixed or Dex takes his job. Nashville is almost exactly the same as last season.

Dallas—just out of the race probably not as close as last season (came down to the VERY LAST GAME) b/c no BRich
Calgary—still crap
Wild—could go either way, but I don’t expect much real improvement
Colorado—actually depends on Varly, and that’s gonna be all mental focus and resilience. He’s so young, though, so…..top eight?
