Lightning and the "Be the Ticket" campaign
It would seem the Lightning are not going to stand for simply going "All In" with regard to the team and the experience at Times Palace. No, they want fans even more "In" than before..
How involved? Early this evening on Facebook, the Bolts unveiled the "Be the Ticket campaign which is being run through the SocialThuzi app on the platform. Basically, the team is looking for photos of decked-out fans to be placed upon game tickets for the 2011-12 season:
Upload a photo of 1-2 fans in Tampa Bay Lightning apparel and your photo may be selected to be on a game ticket during the 2011-12 NHL regular season
The page notes the need for uploaded photos to be in gif or jpg format, and contain only 1 or 2 fans. No group shots. No mobile phone uploads either. See the page for more details.
While it's a great idea and a way to get the base of fans riled up about the Lightning during the downtime of the summer, the drawback is an App on Facebook that wants permission to send you emails and to post content on your Facebook wall. If you have paranoia about Apps taking over your Facebook profile, that might stop you from submitting to this contest. But beyond that, how cool would it be to appear on a game day ticket to a Lightning game??

This is the coolest idea ever.
I love it! Even the Facebook privacy thing is worth it to me and I’m paranoid about Facebook apps.

Part Predator, part Lightning.
I love the idea but
are they only looking for people in the new logo swag? I’m wondering if my Stanley Cup white-shoulderpad sweater is a look that they’re not hoping to bring back on the tickets.
With so little of the new swag out there, RCA, they’d be greatly limiting themselves if they only accepted submissions with fans wearing the new logo.
Typing is an adventure, and reading should be, too!

Just another Class move by a Class Organization.
Another 2 way street offer for Lightning Fans. I had the Honor and privledge to meet Phil and Tony Espo, Dinger, Andrechuk, Bobby “the Chief” Taylor and Paul Kennedy last year at the Forum. The most approachable good bunch of friendly guys you would ever meet in pro sports. That,s why our game beats all others. There are no crybaby headcase “I needs to get paid” for that autograph primadonna’s, Just gentlemen who represent the game and the fans with humble dignity. I am a Grandad and I will always be proud to take my Grandchild to the Lightning games.
Good crew...
…but would be better if Taylor either 1) was replaced by a decent color commentator, or; 2) actually did his pre-game prep work.
I’ve never heard another color guy stumble on so many players as he. It really detracts from an otherwise quality product on TV.

All part of the fun!
Just about all of the color commentators stumble on players at different times, It’s part of the charm in the broadcast. especially the guys who were former players. you have to remember most come from the old school and took alot of pucks to the head. I have seen Potvin do it on the panther broadcasts, and who could forget “The Big Whistle” Chadwick on the Ranger broadcasts. After the games at the Forum, “The Chief” has his post game radio show at the embassy suites, It,s a good time check it out if you can. They do raffles and give away Lightning prizes.
