Tuesday Night (blogroll) link dump and open thread

Let me give a little attention and some love to members of our blogroll.  Some of the sites are smaller, others are dormant, while others are just something you probably don't click through to often.

Becasue the blogroll is looong, it's below the jump.  As are comments.  See you there.

Okay, so I know it isn't hockey

but the most significant link of the night has to be the Yahoo story on Da U, right?

They should make them be referred to as Miami of Florida now!

if anyone refers to them anymore, except as a historical curiosity

at least until 2040 when they hire robot June Jones

Horrible news about Rypien

I thought to add it to the intro tot he thread, but I figured it was exploitation if I did.

Concerning Cassie

She’s in Dallas, Texas this week for work, and shouldn’t be on the thread tonight. She’s in a meeting around now.

Speaking of conventions- who was at the SBN convention over the weekend?

Not me. Even if I went, it would have been bland. Hearing issues. Though it is Vegas.

John F went, right? So did Jon Press from Japers Rink.

Yeah- Fischer went, but he has yet to tell me about all of his exploits which involve him getting stuck on a roof with $80 grand in chips and a massive sunburn.

I would say that this Miami story is distracting people, since it's massive and just broke two hours ago

but, despite being a Florida-based blog, I can’t think of any actual Miami fans.

Miami’s been considered evil by me since I was in middle school. They’ve always been corrupt in one way or another. I only know one friend who has been big on teh school because of the talent they produced. He seems to look past the issues

my feelings are similar

although I do like Al Golden and think he seems like a good guy and a winner. Hope this doesn’t bring him down with it.

Also, in an amusing twist of fate, I spent yesterday evening watching the 2003 Tennessee/Miami game, which broke the ‘Canes’ four year (28 game) home win streak. Great game. Well. . . at least if you’re a fan of Tennessee, Not Miami, or defense. The final was 10-6.

also, in a twist of irony

remember how Southern Cal got fair well hammered for football/basketball violations last year? The chair of the committee of infractions was the Miami athletic director who oversaw all this.

Off topic

1994 was a great year for films. What are some other great movie years?

my personal favorite: 1995

The Usual Suspects, 12 Monkeys, and Se7en all came out that year. Way I see it, nothing can touch that trio.

2001 wasn’t bad with the first Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Oceans 11 among the releases

by Lightningfan7609 on Aug 16, 2011 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions

as far as 2001 goes

Imma gonna have to go Donnie Darko. although if you count US release dates, Memento joins 2001 and automatically bumps it up several notches.

Oh dear.

It seems that without my scintillating contributions, Open Threads just aren’t the same. ;-)

Oh how I hate the off-season. How many days until training camp? Please let there be videos. Lots and lots of videos.

Miss y’all.
