PrintJust over a week until Rookie Camp in Brandon adn South Florida. And it won't be long after that for the Lightning to commence their preseason. Already players are taking practice at the Ic e Sports Forum in Brandon.
Yeah, well, what about the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning? It's just shy of three weeks before the Forum hosts it's first and only preseason date. Will the building be ready in a round-about way to host the Lightning and the Florida Panthers? Here's the latest renovation update from the Bolts:

I’m an avid sports fan, but baseball is somewhat of an exception. I haven’t followed it with any regularity since high school. I thought the best player would be Albert Pujols or Josh Hamilton or somebody
But I know about the transfer of Tennessee’s third string strong safety and of the talks between both North London clubs and the Trotters over Gary Cahill.

Work and family, family and work. My daughter started 1st grade two weeks ago. My classes started last week. Lectures are written for the first 3 weeks. Not one committee meeting set for the next week and a half! Whoo hoo!

The Pac-12 considers the Rose Bowl to be the premier bowl to attend. Mostly because it’s where the Pac-12 champ plays the Big 10 champ. So, when the Huskies were particularly bad, I’d pick a Big 10 team I’d rather see win the Rose Bowl over, say, USC.

the Rose Bowl was the whole reason I figured you'd hate the Big 10
I thought that was about as intense a conference rivalry as there was. but I can understand wanting to cheer against USCjr
I wonder if the SEC/B36 might’ve passed the Pac-12 rivalry though. Lotta hate on both sides

Speaking of the Big Sky, Washington plays Eastern Washington this weekend. Eastern won the national championship in what used to be D-I AA. So, it could be a pretty good matchup, actually.

yeah, I saw that
actually opened with the same line as UT/Montana (18.5), but then UT shot up to 29 point favorites, and UDub is still only 18.
But I think I’m irrationally favorable towards Washington this year. Everybody expects a dropoff, but I think Sark is a good coach, they return a hell of a lot of starters, and sometimes losing your best player causes the rest of the team to pull together and stop relying on someone else to get the job done. UT won our national title the year after Peyton Manning graduated. Still, I think UDub could be a legit top 25 team this year

Well, let me rephrase that…
when I sat down to join this thread I managed to know my canned Mt Dew over and spill it all over the computer table. As I made a frantic (and futile) grab at the soda can before it rolled OFF the table to spread the rest of it’s contents on the floor, I managed to knock over an open cup of hot dipping sauce from the wings I had for dinner.
Result-sticky hot sauce all over the table AND floor.

well, as you can see by my last line
I’m teetering on the brink of calling for Carolina to make it. it’s a pretty rough battle for those last couple spots with the Habs, Rags, Sabres, and Devils. I’m 50/50 on them.
Caps are probably the #1 seed again, because Washington knows regular seasons, and the Bolts are around 5 or 6.
