2011 Tampa Bay Lightning training camp schedule announced
Anyone remember last year, when people were surprised at the turnout for the Bolts training camp events at the Ice Sports? Well, I think the franchise took deep note of that when planning this years camp.
Oh, it's not the on-ice drills and workouts that have been changed to accommodate an audience. It's the fact there will be fan related events off-ice -- alumni signing autographs, face-painting for the kids, Thunderbug, the Lightning Girls, the Bolt Brigade, and arena hostess Brittany Zion being in attendance -- that emphasizes the fact the Lightning realize they have a good thing going in a passionate training camp crowd.
But to cut to the chase, the team released it's official schedule for public workouts this weekend.

For those who plan to attend: GET THERE EARLY. Parking is limited, and the walk can be a ridiculous distance if you don't get on site in a timely manner. Of course, people will be coming and going throughout the day, but the Brandon Ice Sports Forum doesn't have the parking on-site that compares to the crowd that will turn out for this.
Food and beverages will be available on site.
Of course, you might be wondering about team blue and team white's roster make-up. As of this writing,t his has not been settled. The players will be divided into 3 groups on Friday for testing. Those groups will be merged into two, and compose the Blue and White teams.

Once again, I say..
Can’t friggin’ wait!!! Going to try and make it on both Saturday and Sunday. Will hopefully have some pics and video to post, don’t have the best camera though. Will see if I can get some autographs made out to “Raw Charge” haha.
Mixed feelings on making it more of a public event… I think it’s great!! But, it’s not the biggest place, which will make things even more difficult than last year. As mentioned above, parking is one thing, the real problem is getting a good spot to see the action. Not so bad during practice, when both rinks are in use. During scrmmage though, if you don’t find get a spot in one of the 2 sets of bleachers (part of which is closed off for media) then you have only one half of the rink to find a spot along the glass, if not, it’s tippy toe city for an hour.
Oh well, who cares? It’s hockey damnit!! GO BOLTS!!!!
When it comes to Osgood, I agree with D-Mac 100%.. (http://youtu.be/_BJCxdkoIxc) I'm sure the same goes for Drapes. R.I.P. Grind Line!

Still no FanFest.
That’s a bit disappointing. I was hoping to hit the “Gear-age Sale,” too.

Just found out from our ticket rep there will be no FanFest this year because of the Forum renovation.
Bummer, but I understand. #sigh

That was my assumption. I like it when Alumni descend on Tampa, but it’s not the best season to pull this off. Even next year will be iffy with thanks to the Convention.
Typing is an adventure, and reading should be, too!
