Lightning resign Tom Pyatt

Lightning have appeared to sign Tom Pyatt to a 2 year one-way contract for $600,000.

Star-divide

Not a bad depth signing, he has 5 points in 35 games played this season although he is not necessarily looked upon for his point production. I don't know if I've seen enough yet to determine if he's the depth we need. We lack a lot of secondary scoring and I figured we would test the waters at the trade deadline or fix out depth via free agency this summer. What do you think?

As you said, he certainly isn’t the answer to secondary scoring, but he does bring positive skills with him. He’s brings some energy and is pretty strong on the puck in both zones. He can tie up a team with his fore checking and is quite responsible in the defensive zone. As an added bonus, he’s a very good penalty killer. He’s well worth the 600k!

I can’t say if Steve Y feels he’s a big part of the future. Sometimes these type signings are simply to secure assets. This team can’t afford to lose depth at this point. By signing him to an attractive number, he could also be moved if necessary.

Personally, I think his play as a 4th line guy , along with his play on the PK, makes him worth every penny.

Another great move..

Think Pyatt is a good example of building players from within. Taking players, other teams may see no value in and putting them on (at the very least) the correct path. This is how we will win Cups in the future.. take the right amount of under estimated talent, with the right amount of raw power and on our way. Yzerman knows this, as he’s seen Ken Holland do it for some time now.

And he played for Saginaw (my hometown) …knew I liked him.

we had a receiver from Saginaw at Tennessee

but his father is ill, so he had to transfer back home to Sparty.

If I cared more about my UNC side, I'd call myself "Tar Volon," and that'd be awesome.

He is what I thought Ryan Shannon was going to be. Love this signing.
