Classic Tampa Bay Lightning games to air on Sun Sports

To pass the time while we're idled by labor strife, the Bolts will have classic games rebroadcast on Sun Sports starting Thursday.

We're all idle - the franchise, the players, the fans, the broadcast affiliate. We're all idle and it's the 20th anniversary season for the Tampa Bay Lightning. What to do? What to do?

How about classic games being rebroadcast?

Thursday (and weekly, going forward) at 8 PM, Sun Sports will air the first (of what could be several) Tampa Bay Lightning classic game. Classic will be a throwback to some, while to others it will just be awkward. And why? The first game televised in the Lightning Classics series will be from October 7th, 1992 -- the Lightning's first NHL game. Played against the Chicago Blackhawks before an announced crowd just over 10,000 at the Expo Hall on the Florida State Fairgrounds, the game retains one classic feat that has not been repeated since: Four goals in one game by a Tampa Bay Lightning player.

The game has changed since 1992, and of course this team has changed. While some of the players and lore of the game will be foreign to many, it also offers a fresh introduction to the Bolts past for those fans who seek to see more of this team's history.

Here's my question to Raw Charge readers: Should we do open threads to coincide these rebroadcasts? Let us know in comments.
