What a surreal start to the game for me
Right as Karlson draws back to release the shot the Cable drops and it took about 3 minutes for the modem and box to reboot. I was hoping that the hand of God had reached down to make a Glove Save. Far too many unforced errors in the first 10 minutes. I counted a couple of giveaways each for Malone ( a little rusty ) and Mikkelson and at least 1 by Gervais. Vinny has been woefully weak on the puck so far. So who do you all think will win the Rick Nash Sweepstakes?
Don in St Pete
Would love for it to be Nashville, but that ain’t likely.

so we have a three way trade
Columbus gets: whatever they want from Buffalo
Columbus gives: Nash
Nashville gets: Nash
Nashville gives: a home to Leino
Buffalo gets: rid of Leino
Buffalo gives: whatever Columbus wants

Cassie may be right
I expect Nash to end up with one of the teams that has an NHL ready goaltender serving as a backup. I.E. Minnesota, LA, Vancouver, Nashville or Chicago. That being said I doubt Howson would trade him to a western conference team, so a 3 team deal is actually very likely in this case, but hard to consumate. However, just for example, imagine this scenario. Nash to Montreal, Montreal send Moen, Gill and a pick or prospect to Vancouver who send Raymond, Schneider and Tanev or a pick to Columbus.

and then flip on the TV to see “to order this channel, call [some number or other]” So my hockey nowadays is Carolina Hurricanes and VS NBC Sports Net. Unless there’s a game that’s important enough that I’m motivated to get a partially radio version and try a refresh every couple of minutes. Which actually might be more about my personal state of mind than how the team is performing, but I had a presentation this morning and stayed up way too late prepping last night, so I gave up midway through the 2nd.

Stick a fork in us we're done
We need to build like Ottawa and Edmonton have been doing through the draft and develop our own players. Next year promises to see some of our own drafted players competing for a spot in training camp. We need more grit, speed and tenacity and less perimeter play and Lackadaisical backchecking. Defense will continue to be a problem in the short term and may not be easily solved on the free agent or trade markets.
Don in St Pete
Edmonton is not a model.
Not a good one. They’re stackted up with good players and remain bad, year after year. That’s not rebuilding, it’s incompetence.

I disagree Rafael and John
They’ve suffered more man games lost to injury than any team in the league this season. But I think they finally have it on the right track. The AHL team has the best record in the league despite missing players to injury and the numerous callups by the NHL club. They are stacked to the gills with prospects and may actually have to trade prospects because of more promising prospects coming into the system. I agree with your assessment of them in the past tense, but I’m convinced they’ve turned it around.
Don in St Pete
I think their complaint was more in regards to the teams you were comparing the Lightning to, and not that the Lightning have turned it around. ;o)

They have the least amount of points since 2005 among the NHL’s 30 teams. Kevin Lowe and Steve Tamberlini are probably the least admired executives in the NHL
Does Edmonton have talent? Yes. But does Edmonton think they are greater than they are? I’m not saying the players do, I’m saying the organization does. n when it’s not.

I wouldn’t say ‘bad’ luck. I mean, they’ve been able to come back from two down fairly regularly. But there’s also injuries to consider, when looking over the whole season. The bottom line is that they just don’t have a winning mentality right now – for whatever reason.

Lot's of passengers tonight
The players I saw playing hard were St. Louis, Brewer, Hedman, Thompson, Pyatt, Hall, Wyman, Kubina and Clark. I’m not sure it’s possible but the Bolt’s need a severe shakeup during the deadline/offseason this year. I’d rather see young players with desire and intensity making mistakes that veterans going through the motions to collect a paycheck.Too many on this team seem entitled by the playoff run last season.
