and it takes a long time (four weeks) to see how it comes out
heck, it takes 24 hours just to make sure your yeast cultures weren’t dead and can actually do their fermenting job. hence lack of patience being a problem

the reason I’m worried is that someone on the internet said if I mixed the yeast with water and sugar, it’d start foaming in 30 minutes. after an our, there were 3-4 bubbles. but then I called the local homebrew store and they told me to chill out and be patient. which is, as you said, annoying.
I imagine it’s way different from homemade bread, but I’ve never done that. my sister has

Just be warned that because there were so few, that it might take longer to work than if you’d had a lot of bubbles. The bubbles indicate how much of the yeast is alive. Some is, obviously, but not all of it.

Have to question one thing. If we are only going to use Connolly for 5 mins a game, why not send him down and let him get his confidence back and get ice time. he got the assist on Stammer’s goal but still only had 1:33 of ice time as of a moment ago.
Because “back down” for Connolly is to juniors not to the AHL.

take a look at the average ice time…it was way higher when he was not in the box. Different…I am not saying I want him sent down…I would rather he stay up and get time on the ice when he is not scratched. 5 mins is not developing him.
You’re right, but it’s either the NHL or the WHL – there’s no in between.

Why is it not helping? I mean that two ways. First, how are you measuring his progress or lack thereof?
Second, he’s working with a fantastic coaching staff, playing against NHL opponents. Why send him somewhere where he won’t be challenged?

I think it’s more that Yzerman et al thinks that sending him down won’t help him, even if he would get more ice time. And they probably don’t want to be paying a WHLer an NHL salary. Which they’d have to do if they sent him down.

they did not trust his prior club. He was since traded to a stronger team so the situation is different now.
I think you all kind of missed my main point and that is if you are not going to send him down then play him. In the last 16 games he has been active he has only played > 10 minutes exactly 2 times. And he has not played more than 8 minutes in 7 games (8 games after tonight.) I want to see the kid play and believe he can do it.
I just don't see the dichotomy here
why don’t you think he’s getting anything out of NHL practices, NHL coaching, etc even if he’s not playing a lot

I apologize if this sounds aggressive, but that’s just wrong. Tons and Tons of guys spend time on the bench or in the press box their first few seasons. Stamkos did it. Seguin did it.
He can cope with getting only 7 or 8 minutes of ice time while he learns the ropes.

not just ice time…production says much too. He is pressured…feels like every mistake costs him ice time the rest of the night. Give him the message he is trusted or send him where he is trusted.
What production numbers are you using to prove how he feels?

not sure why I should bother since I was “just wrong” but my production is easy to see. Connolly is a scorer and always has been. Tonight was his first point in 17 games. You think that is building confidence?

The issue is you all read it and went straight to the easy argument of sending him down…I said “If we are only going to use Connolly for 5 mins a game, why not send him down and let him get his confidence back and get ice time.”
I DON’T want him sent down…I want to see him play here. I am not saying 20 mins a game but give the kid more than 7 mins a night. My point is if we don’t trust him its not doing him any good.
Again…I want him to play up here with us. Is that clearer?

well it isn’t talent, we know that much.
I mean the kid did a nice job on that shift getting an assist. He is a creative playmaker on a team that is almost out of the hunt…how much worse is he going to make us…give him a chance if you are going to dress him
Here’s the thing, tho. They’re trying to make a run for playoffs – and doing fairly well so far. Maybe they’re just sticking with the hot hands?

I don’t understand how handing him ice time that he didn’t earn and can’t do something with builds confidence. I don’t understand how you can say that he gains nothing from being in the situation that he’s in.
I look at his stats and I see that he was being given ice time and didn’t get points. I see reports that Boucher is working with him one-on-one. I see reports that Yzerman is taking a personal interest in what he does. I believe that he is getting something out of it.
What’s wrong about what you said is the assertion that guys get nothing out of being with the big club unless they are playing 10 minutes or more a night. Lots of guys go through this and come out fine on the other end. It’s not a sign that his career or his development is being mismanaged.

You think everything is that black and white? funny. I never said he’s getting nothing out of it. I am saying he may get more elsewhere. There is a huge difference there.
And lots of guys are not the potential scorers that he is. As a coach I know that scorers have a different and fragile mentality (which is why they have streaks and slumps).
Its not a black and white issue…and you are right if he hasn’t earned it then don’t play him….send him where he will play and give the time to Ashton, Labrie or Conacher or someone else…I am fine with that too.

“Send him down” would mean back to Juniors. And the flip-flop between top level (NHL) and amateur hockey just seems counter-productive and send s teh wrong message.

They can bring him to AHL level after junior playoffs is over. And they can manage the “message” with a good conversation about what it really means. This kid can play and watching from the bench is not helping.
A player must be 20 years old to play in the AHL, and Connolly isn’t.

Besides, Tri-City is among the top teams in the WHL right now, so chances are they’ll go deeper into playoffs than Norfolk will in the AHL.

I haven’t spent much time in the concourses either. or the locker rooms
so she’s sideline (between the defensive zone circle and the blue line) and we’re goal zone (probably right behind where the trapezoid ends (at the fat part). both in the North end though
