The 23 year-old Lightning assistant captain will have his broken leg surgically repaired tomorrow morning in Boston.

While the majority of the Tmapa Bay Lightning's rster embarks to the province of Quebec to play the flip-side of bakc-to-back games against Les Habitantes de Montreal tomorrow, one major cog remains in Boston.  That cog being center Steven Stamkos.

It was announced by the team that Stamkos will have surgery tomorrow morning in Boston ro repair his broken leg.

From the team release:

TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos was diagnosed with a broken tibia in his right leg today in Boston, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

"At this point Steven will be out indefinitely," Yzerman said. "The medical staff in Boston, in consultation with our team physicians, has made the decision to surgically repair the injury. The procedure is expected to take place tomorrow morning. The biggest concern for me, and the rest of the Lightning, is that decisions are made in Steven's best long-term interest, and we feel this is the appropriate course of action."

Stamkos was injured with 7:11 remaining in the second period of a scoreless game as the Lightning took on the Boston Bruins. Tampa Bay went on to lose the contest, 3-0.

There have been no announced roster moves at this time to accomodate the Bolts loss of Stamkos, and it may not be a necessity - the team carries 12 forwards after Stamkos. The issue at the moment is mostly who else will assume enter duties after remaining healthy team centers Valtteri Filppula, Tyler Johnson, and Nate Thompson.
