Game 11: Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Rangers

Elsa

The Lightning went into Madison Square Garden looking finish their road trip on a winning note, but that didn't happen.

The Tampa Bay Lightning lost to the New York Rangers 5-1.

The Rangers scored 31 seconds into the first, and again with eight seconds left. And a lot of the middle wasn't bad for the Lightning, actually. Particularly with Henrik Lundqvist being in net. Then again, it wasn't exactly pretty, either.

The Lightning had five breakaways in the first half of the first period alone, but were unable to convert any of them. They haven't been able to score a power play goal for three games now. And, probably not surprisingly, they've been unable to win in the last three games as well. They played hard, but they weren't taking a lot of shots. They went almost eight minutes into the third period before getting their first shot on Lundqvist.

One of the bright spots for the game was recently called up rookie Alex Killorn. He started out on a line with Benoit Pouliot and Tyler Pyatt, and stayed there for the first and some of the second. Then he was shifted to a line with Vincent Lecavalier and Teddy Purcell, and helped set up a goal for Vinny - the only Lightning goal for the game.

Killorn was awarded his first NHL point - an assist on the Lecavalier goal. He also earned his first NHL penalty as well, which the Rangers were unable to capitalize on. He was credited with two shots on the night, and played 13:15.

Fellow rookie Cory Conacher led the team in shots with three, and also got almost a minute more ice time than Steven Stamkos.

The Lightning's next game is Tuesday, 12 Februay, at home versus the Montreal Canadiens. Game time is 7:30 pm ET. If you're not attending the game, then stop by the Raw Charge game thread, which will be available at 7 o'clock.
