Lightning forward Nate Thompson has been suspended for a check to the head of Matt D`Agostini of the New Jersey Devils. NHL VP of Player Safety found that Thompson "recklessly target[ed] D'Agostini's head by extending up and making it the principle point of contact."
To the video:
This wasn't a hit that the SunSports broadcast even noticed, much less replayed, but having seen the hit I can't really complain about the suspension. No question that the head was the principal point of contact, and Thompson didn't make much effort, if any, to try to play the body rather than the head.
