The Tampa Bay Lightning have brought back forward Mike Angelidis with a one-year, two-way contract today

News has broken that Tampa Bay has re-signed forward Mike Angelidis to a one-year, two-way contract. This could be a potentially big signing for Syracuse, with roster changes expected next season for the Crunch. This past season, Syracuse's leadership team was made up of alternate captains Mark Barberio and J.P. Cote, and captain Angelidis. With Barberio angling for a spot in Tampa next season, the re-signing of Angelidis gives the team that much more potential stability.

During the 2012-2013 season, Angelidis played in 71 regular season games with the Syracuse Crunch, recording 11 goals and 24 points. He also appeared in all 18 Calder Cup Playoff games the Crunch played. His actions helped Syracuse to the finals for the first time in franchise history, as he set an example on the ice of the team's "One goes, we all go" philosophy. During the AHL playoffs, Angelidis recorded two goals and six points.

Angelidis also played in one game with the Lightning in 2012-13 on April 2. The game was against the Florida Panthers. Previous, Angelidis scored his first career NHL goal in his NHL debut on January 24, 2012 against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. He skated in six games with the Lightning during that season.
