Lethbridge Hurricanes LW Carter Ashton impressed enough during the 2009 Tampa Bay Lightning training camp to get his first professional contract. The late first-round pick in 2009 was signed by the Bolts, and is now Lightning property for the foreseeable future.
Add another (officially) to the defensive mix. Victor Hedman is signed to a standard 3 year contract at the rookie max of $900,000 a year. Incentives are supposed to drive this up quite a bit, but that's all up to his performance.
Only the 2nd D-man taken by the Lightning in this years draft, Gotovets has a commitment to Cornell, the Brandon Wheat Kings own his rights in the WHL and the Minsk Dynamo of the KHL own his rights... What to do, what to do...? Smallish puck moving defenseman with finesse...
Named best goaltender in the World Junior Championships this year, Janus was passed over last year in the draft.
Considered raw talent, Oshawa's netminder Zandor adds depth to the Lightning goalie chart, but will be watched and re-assessed at a later time.

I think) of the Ontario Hockey League last season. Click the title to find out more about Hutchings.
We'll be sending you to Bolt Prospects for a recap of all the Lightning picks from today. The #52 pick by the Bolts is Richard Panik, a forward (RW/C) from Slovakia by way of the Czech Republic.
Here's the official word from the team regarding Victor Hedman's selection
