The most interesting thing about Guillen's weekend rant this time was not the rant but the reaction to it. Radio, TV and newspapers: Ozzie erupts! Ken Williams: Ozzie threw me under the bus!
Two things. One, what Guillen said a few days ago about the team's offensive struggles was a frustrated manager attempting to send a message to his team, nothing more.
And nothing new. Judging by the Sox's 9-5 victory over the Royals on Tuesday, it apparently worked.
Two, Williams completely overreacted to what Guillen said about the Sox's roster. By now, he should know that when Guillen says he expects the general manager "to do something," it means he expects Williams to roll his eyes at his manager's impetuousness. Ozzie being Ozzie is an acceptable explanation for almost anything the man says.
