Bolt Prospects mailbag: Speculation on who could be on the move


Chad over at Bolt Prospects takes fan questions about targets for Wednesday's trade deadline as well as possible cogs that could be on the move in any deal. In a non-deadline answer, Chad also addresses the whereabouts / whatever happened to JImmy Mullin, who was a hot collegiate prospect who has seemingly disappeared from the radar.

Norfolk Admirals win franchise record 9th straight


Bolt Prospects recaps the Norfolk Admirals ninth straight win, which set a new Ads franchise record (and probably a Lightning minor league affiliate record). Pete also makes a case for Admirals head coach Jon Cooper for AHL coach of the year.

Connolly and the Tri-City Americans


We're linking to our friends over at Bolt Prospects here who covered the news from out west that Tri-City has been in talks with the Tampa Bay Lightning regarding the likelihood of RW Brett Connolly being sent back to Juniors. (For those who didn't know, Connolly's rights were traded fro m the Prince George Cougars of the WHL to teh Tri-City Americans several weeks ago) The Bolts have until February 27th to decide Connolly's fate.

2009 draft pick Richard Panik signed by Lightning


Another member of the 2009 Tampa Bay Lightning draft class (Brian Lawton's only draft class) has been signed to an entry level contract. Right wing Richard Panik signed officially this morning to a standard entry level deal. With Panik signed, he joins Victor Hedman, Jaroslav Janus, Carter Ashton and Alex Hutchings as players from the Bolts draft class to be signed by the team. The only two draftees from the draft class not under contract with the franchise are currently Kirill Gotovets and goaltender Michael Zador.

Tampa Bay Lightning players & prospects at World Championships


Bolt Prospects sent out a link on Twitter to their updated list of Lightning players participating at the World Championships in Germany. They missed Juraj Simek on their list - he was playing for Switzerland as of three days ago in an exhibition game. The opening game of preliminary rounds is today at 2:15 pm Eastern. The USA will faceoff against the host country Germany. It is the only game scheduled today.
