The Division 1 level of the IIHF World Championship completed with two separate tournaments in Budapest and Kiev. Kazakhstan and Italy broke the hearts of Great Brtiain, Ukraine and Hungary by returning to the elite group for 2012.

The main event of the 2011 IIHF World Championships takes place in Slovakia starting April 29, but the opening act of the Division 1 level are taking place in Kiev, Ukraine and Budapest, Hungary this week. See how the pretenders stack up, as they vie for a spot in next year's top group.
