When multiple polling firms go over a single issue with different groups of people, there tends to be a consensus and consistent margin that the polling subjects fall within. And usually, one poll veers off target wildly. That poll is usually referred to as the outlier, because it falls well outside the margin-of-error of all other polls on the subject.
