Jeremie Blain will be the #1 guy on Acadie-Bathurst's defense in 2011-12, a defense that will boast five returning veterans and goalie Robert Steeves. In limited action during 2010-11, Steeves outplayed Oilers' prospect Olivier Roy. If the Titan find some offense to go along with a stout defense, they will be an interesting team to watch in the QMJHL. Blain came in at #19 in our Top 25 Under 25.
He is certainly personable and charming. His stats are unimportant. If he can keep his nose clean, develop into a great two way player, and bulk up a bit, he will vastly increase his value to the Islanders. The Wings did something similar with Federov.
Feel good story about his visit to a local Head Start program. Kabanov returned to action last night against the PEI Rocket after missing nearly two weeks due to an undisclosed injury. He was held off the scoresheet in a wild 6-5 MAINEiac win that saw both starting goalies get pulled.
Jamie Tozer at Station nation was on hand for the opener of the Super Series and provides coverage. Edmonton prospect Olivier Roy played half of the game, allowing three goals on fifteen shots.
Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy blames Guy Boucher for the QMJHL for being a more defensive league... And Guy responded to the accusations.

Here we go again kids. Come one, come all for some hockey talk. Today at 11 pm British, 6 pm Eastern, 3 pm Pacific with Su Ring from Daily Su.
Su Ring from Daily Su and I have started up our own hockey show. Join us for some discussions on the NHL, AHL, major junior leagues, international competition - basically, we'll cover whatever's going on as long as it's hockey-related. Su has already talked to some minor league hockey players that she's interviewed before, and they may stop in from time to time. For those who are new to this, there's a chat room going on as we broadcast, and you can download the podcast later if you miss it. (The chat room is only active and available during the broadcast, however.) Right now, the show is one hour long, but we may expand to two hours if there's enough of a demand. So from here on out, Su and I will be on every Sunday at 11 pm British / 6 pm Eastern / 3 pm Pacific. See you then!
Today was the trade deadline for the QMJHL and there was plenty of action. Two Devils prospects have been moved today. Canada's WJC captain Patrice Cormier is now a member of Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (23-17-2-1). He joins up with Devils prospect Jean-Sebastian Berube. Eric Gelinas has been moved as part of a three-way deal that saw him eventually end up with Chicoutimi Sagueneens (15-17-4-4).
